Over 200 Cultural and Travel Activities Await You in China’s Chongqing

Chongqing - Southwest China's Chongqing is undergoing a magical winter transformation, inviting both locals and tourists to explore the unique charm of the season. The city launched its 2023 Winter Tourism festivities on December 29, featuring over 200 cultural and travel activities that promise a spectacular winter experience.

Winter enthusiasts will find a treasure trove of delights in various districts and counties across Chongqing. From thrilling snow sports to soothing hot springs and captivating folk events, the city has curated a diverse range of experiences to cater to every taste.

Diverse skiing delights

High-altitude areas like Nantian Lake in Fengdu District, Jinfo Mountain in Nanchuan District, and Fairy Mountain in Wulong District are set to delight snow enthusiasts. The fourth Nantian Lake Ice and Snow Tourism Season boasts an immersive experience with events such as the Youth Skiing Challenge, Snow Volleyball Invitational, and Fancy Skiing Performances. The 130,000-square-meter special snow play area offers activities like rainbow runs, snow trekking, and sports competitions.

The 25th Jinfo Mountain Ice and Snow Season has introduced exciting routes like the "Crossing the Forest and Snow Journey" and the "178 KM Mountain Fun Drive." With over 20 skiing and snow play activities, including single and double board skiing, snowmobiling, and snow cycling, the mountain promises an exhilarating winter escapade.

Chongqing also introduced a unique combo ticket for seven major skiing areas to enhance the winter magic, marking the city's inaugural ice and snow pass. Additionally, Wuxi County encourages visitors to participate in the "Ice and Snow Wuxi" social media campaign, offering a free park entry incentive.

Hot springs bliss

Chongqing, the Hot Springs Capital of the World, comes alive in winter with various options to indulge in the warm embrace of hot springs. 

The Tongjing Hot Spring Scenic Area presents the "Tongjing Hot Spring Warm Life Season," featuring hot spring baths, cave tea brewing, hot spring hot pot, and paddling experiences. Meanwhile, Yue Hot Spring in the Changshou Lake Scenic Area unveils 29 hot spring pools across four distinct zones, offering unique experiences like mini spa pools and vortex baths.

A tapestry of New Year celebrations 

Chongqing's districts paint a rich tapestry of cultural festivities, from New Year food festivals to temple fairs and concerts. Shizhu County invites visitors to the "Shizhu Flavor, Tujia New Year" series, while Wanzhou District hosts the "Welcoming the Dragon Year, Appreciating Intangible Cultural Heritage, Rushing to the Grand Market" 2024 First Three Gorges Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival.

Music lovers can revel in the "Wanzhou Meets You·New Year Star Concert" on January 7, featuring renowned artists. Dadukou District sets the stage for the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert on December 31.

Additionally, various cultural centers, libraries, and museums across Chongqing's districts will showcase a series of painting and calligraphy exhibitions, providing a visual feast for art enthusiasts.

As the year concludes and a new one begins, the Beibei Plum Culture and Art Festival from December 29 to January 1 invites visitors to partake in the beauty of plum blossoms, providing a delightful conclusion to Chongqing's winter festivities.
