Fostering Youth and Cultural Bonds: Macao Committee Office’s Dynamic Approach

Chongqing - The Macao Committee Office of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is instrumental in fostering dynamic, multifaceted exchanges between Chongqing and Macao, with a pivotal emphasis on nurturing the development of youth in both places.

Commemorating the 24th anniversary Macao's return to China on December 20 last year, the office orchestrated a Youth Art Exhibition in the Liangjiang New Area. This event brought together over 600 vibrant young individuals from both Chongqing and Macao, who showcased their artistic talents and bolstered mutual understanding through their depictions of iconic landmarks, such as the People's Liberation Monument in Chongqing and the Ruins of Saint Paul's in Macao.

Helmed by Jia Rui, a former professional wushu (Chinese martial arts) athlete from Macao and multiple champions of the Asian Games and World Wushu Championships, the committee office has made significant strides in promoting traditional culture.

Post-retirement, Jia ardently established the "Poetry Kung Fu" wushu brand in Chongqing, achieving widespread recognition across 11 provinces and cities throughout China. The office's adept team, comprising lead, constituent, and specially invited members, brings together a diverse array of experts in cultural exchange, youth work, arts, and technology. Together, they synergize to facilitate a rich tapestry of exchange activities for Chongqing-Macao youth in various domains, including culture, art, sports, and science, thus crafting a comprehensive and integrated exchange matrix between the two places.

Beyond catalyzing cultural and artistic engagement among the younger generation, the office has also spearheaded the CPPCC Chongqing Members Engage with Schools initiative in Macao. This includes memorable exchanges and sharing sessions with luminaries such as Olympic table tennis champion Ding Ning, instilling in students the courage to surmount challenges. In Chongqing, the office adeptly arranged for 50 youths from both Chongqing and Macao to engage in patriotic education activities at the Chongqing 1949 Grand Theater.

With his insightful perspective, Jia recognizes the existing exchange foundation between Chongqing and Macao but acknowledges the need for deeper comprehension regarding Chongqing among many Macao compatriots. He proposes leveraging Macao's robust financial, technical, talent, and project resources in sync with Chongqing's reformative policies to address this gap. This strategy aims to intensify diversified industrial exchanges, spur investment and project development by Macao in Chongqing, and aid Chongqing enterprises in their international expansion through the strategic Macao platform.
