Chongqing’s 2024 Spring Festival Travel Surge: Soaring Passenger Numbers Meet Elevated Services

Chongqing - On January 26, the 40-day 2024 Chinese New Year travel period began, with Chongqing poised to manage an estimated 30.9 million passengers, a notable 25.4% increase compared to the previous year.

Prominent transportation hubs, including Chongqing Bei (North) and Chongqing Xi (West) Railway Stations, along with Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, are enhancing their services. They are increasing train frequencies and implementing strategic measures to manage the anticipated surge in travelers efficiently. Moreover, contingency plans are in place to address potential challenges posed by extreme weather conditions or emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to passengers' travel plans.

Service improvements are evident. For example, Chongqing Bei (North) Railway Station has introduced specialized service counters for the elderly, managed by trained staff to attend to the specific requirements of senior travelers. Additionally, distinct service counters for students and migrant workers are available, with the option for advanced bookings via the 12306 platform. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has deployed a team of volunteers to provide a range of services, from answering questions to assisting the elderly, children, and those with disabilities, thereby enhancing the overall travel experience.

As the festive season approaches, Chongqing's transport network, including its railways, highways, and air travel services, is fully prepared for the peak travel period. Every staff member is committed to their role, ensuring passengers have a seamless and pleasant journey during the Chinese New Year.
