City Gears Up for the 7th Games of Chongqing

Chongqing - The 7th Games of Chongqing includes an extraordinary array of events from the end of March to September, according to a press conference on March 28. The grand opening and closing ceremonies are poised to take place on September 20 and 29 in Hechuan District.

The press conference offered a thorough overview of the preparations and schedules for the forthcoming athletic spectacle, providing a glimpse into the eagerly awaited sports gala.

The Games is hosted by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and collaboratively organized by the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Sports, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, and the Hechuan District People's Government.

The Games will feature competitions across youth and adult divisions, spanning 45 major and 1015 minor events. Nine exhibition games, including cycling, squash, and stand-up paddleboarding, will complement the competitions. A total of 30,000 participants from across Chongqing's districts and counties, alongside invited contingents from parts of Sichuan Province, are expected to compete.

In preparation, Hechuan has been diligently preparing since 2022, embracing a commitment to excellence, safety, efficiency, sustainability, and digitalization. Venue construction and enhancements of the Hechuan District Sports Centre are nearing completion, boasting new and modernized facilities. The Games' emblem, mascot, slogan, and anthem, each steeped in significance, have been meticulously chosen to embody the spirit and ethos of the event, with the emblem offering profound symbolism and the mascot "Hui Hui" capturing the essence of local culture.

A robust support system is in place, encompassing comprehensive accommodation, transportation, healthcare, and communication services, to ensure a seamless and reassuring experience for all attendees. An extensive network of volunteers has also been mobilized to facilitate the event's smooth execution.

A focal point of this year's Games is the opportunity to elevate Chongqing's stature. The event is set to enhance Hechuan's cityscape, infrastructure, and public amenities, thereby improving the quality of life for residents while projecting an image of a modern, dynamic Chongqing to a global audience.

This edition of the Games introduces a range of conventional and novel sports, showcasing innovation and inclusivity. Including contemporary events like softball and triathlon, along with tailored categories for youth, aligns with international standards and champions the holistic advancement of sports.
