Chongqing - In recent years, Chongqing has seized the opportunity to accelerate building the city into a Hub for International Exchanges in Central and Western China, continuously integrating and expanding foreign affairs resources.
The city has increased efforts to invite foreign entities and expand its presence globally. As a result, Chongqing's international network has grown, fostering broader exchanges with sister cities, solidifying partnerships, and paving the way for a wider path of friendship.
On May 15, 2015, Chongqing and Chennai, India, solidified their commitment to international collaboration by signing the Agreement to Establish Friendly City Relations. This marked the beginning of a series of friendly exchanges and cooperative ventures between the two cities.

Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, stands as India's fourth-largest commercial hub and the largest artificial port. It serves as the principal trade center in southern India and a nexus for Tamil culture, education, and arts. Notable institutions enrich the city's educational landscape, including the University of Madras and the Madras Music Academy. The Kodambakkam film studio, dubbed the "Hollywood of South India," garners global recognition. Nearby, the Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site 60 kilometers away, is celebrated for its distinctive Shore Temple.

Leaders from both Chongqing and Chennai have frequently spearheaded delegations, fostering dialogues and advancing collaborations across sectors such as automobile manufacturing, healthcare, solid waste management, and education.
Chongqing Jinshan Science & Technology (Group) Co., Ltd and South India Surgical Co., Ltd. (SISCO) have forged a durable partnership, with SISCO distributing Jinshan's capsule endoscopies across India and facilitating the installation of several units at Chennai's Apollo Hospital.
Furthermore, officials from the Government of Tamil Nadu have regularly visited Chongqing, organizing investment promotion events to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation.
