Chongqing Cultivates Beauty Talents to Represent China in Int’l Skills Competition

Chongqing - The second Belt and Road International Skills Competition will be held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from June 24th to 26th, 2024. As the host city, Chongqing is actively preparing for the competition while warmly welcoming participants from all over the country.

Liu Jiajia and Li Zhenqin, two teachers from Chongqing City Management College, who are also experts and coaches of the Chinese Training Team of Beauty Program of the 47th International Skills Competition, shared how their college is deeply involved in the Belt and Road International Skills Competition and is preparing for the beauty program of the World Skills Competition in September.

Achieving good results in international competitions is inseparable from cultivating participants in terms of workforce and material resources. In 2015, Chongqing City Management College successfully applied to become the Chongqing Municipal Training Base for the Beauty Project of the 44th World Skills Competition, providing necessary support for the participants in the construction of the base, the expert coaching team, and the selection and training of players.

According to Liu Jiajia, the leader of the expert group of the Chongqing team of the beauty project of Chongqing City Management College and the gold medalist of the beauty competition of the first Belt and Road International Skills Competition, the base gathers outstanding domestic coaches and invites experienced foreign experts to guide the players.

During the preparation period, they adhered to the strategy of "Bringing in " and "Going Global," actively invited foreign experts to China for exchanges, and organized players to participate in international competitions in Sweden, Hungary, Australia, Thailand, and other countries (regions) for many times, to enhance the international vision of them and effectively improve their experience and adaptability.

"Whether it's the training conditions, the basic quality of the players, or the coaching team, our level should be the best in the country," Liu said. The base leaders believe that the construction of the expert coach team is the top priority of the base construction, and an international expert coach team with an advanced level is an important prerequisite to getting excellent results.

When discussing the Belt and Road International Skills Competition projects, Liu introduced them as including facial care, body care, hand care, and makeup.

Liu hopes that through this platform, the participants can feel the competitive atmosphere of domestic and foreign experts and players competing on the same stage, communicate with each other, improve their skills with various countries, and make full preparations for the beauty project of the World Skills Competition in the future.

This is not the first time Chongqing City Management College has participated in an international skills competition on behalf of Chongqing and China.

"Since the establishment of the base, they have trained seven winners for the World Skills Competition, The Belt and Road International Skills Competition, and the first Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China, winning honors for the country and Chongqing," said Li Zhenqin, head of the Chinese Training Team of the 47th International Skills Competition and the owner of the silver medal in the beauty project of the 45th World Skills Competition.

"In terms of life service projects, the beauty project is Chongqing's characteristic project, and its achievements have always been at the forefront of the world. "

The beauty field was initially not taken seriously by the public, but after years of experience in the industry and competition, Liu Jiajia has gained a lot in personal development and career training.

"For me, as a teacher to lead others to progress, we are proud to stand on a world-class stage with the national flag. From the school, society, and national level, through continuous efforts, it is a great achievement to be able to provide career direction for others, change the traditional concept of employment, promote the development of vocational education, and win glory for the country," Liu said.
