SCFAI Graduation Works Exhibition Opens in Chongqing, Showcasing Student Creations

Chongqing - On May 26, the "Blooming June - SCFAI Art Tour" 2024 Graduation Works Exhibition opened at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SCFAI) in Southwest China's Chongqing. As one of Chongqing’s cultural highlights, the exhibition showcases over ten thousand works created by more than 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students from the class of 2024.

The graduate works exhibition is divided into two phases. The first phase, running until May 31, features works by 208 graduates in Chinese painting, calligraphy and seal cutting, sculpture, oil painting, printmaking, watercolor, experimental art, animation, and film directing.

From June 6 to June 16, the second phase will present graduate designs in craft art, product design, information and interaction design, cultural creative design, fashion design, art and technology, environmental art design, and landscape architecture by 202 graduates.

The undergraduate exhibition will be displayed from May 27 to June 10 at the SCFAI University Town Campus Art Museum and the Chongqing Contemporary Art Museum in Huangjueping Campus. It includes works from 904 students across 17 nationally recognized top-tier majors and 23 Chongqing municipal top-tier undergraduate programs in the fields of art, education, and engineering.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the "Blooming June" graduation exhibition. Over the past two decades, this event has become a cultural mainstay in Chongqing, allowing the public to witness the artistic achievements of SCFAI students and the institute’s dedication to integrating educational excellence with cultural enrichment.

SCFAI President Jiao Xingtao reflected on the significance of this milestone, saying, "Twenty years ago, SCFAI pioneered the integration of graduation exhibitions into the cultural fabric of the city, opening the doors of the school to the public."

He added, "We can feel that 'Blooming June' has truly become one of the most important artistic events in the city, adding a vibrant stroke to the unique character of Chongqing."

Jiao emphasized that the graduation work exhibition is a bridge, facilitating a mutual enhancement between art education and community engagement. To commemorate this 20-year journey, the SCFAI will host a retrospective exhibition at the Chongqing Contemporary Art Museum, showcasing the development and achievements of the Blooming June exhibitions over the past two decades.

The exhibition is expected to draw art enthusiasts, tourists, and locals to immerse themselves in the rich and varied works that highlight the creativity and talent nurtured at SCFAI.
