Huangshui is celebrated for its rich Tujia culture and the historical significance of the Ba Salt Ancient Road, an ancient salt transportation route. Shizhu is the birthplace of the globally renowned folk song Taiyang Chulai Xiyangyang (Joy of the Rising Sun) and hosts three national-level intangible cultural heritage projects along with 22 municipal-level intangible cultural heritage projects. Moreover, Huangshui is a crucial station on the Ba Salt Ancient Road, preserving the deep-rooted customs of salt transportation and Tujia cultural elements.

Capitalizing on its unique natural resources and Tujia ethnic culture, Huangshui has developed a diverse array of tourism products. Visitors can engage with intangible cultural heritage, participate in the grand long-table banquet, dance the traditional Tujia Baishou Dance, and enjoy the large-scale Tujia song and dance performances. The resort also features the 4A scenic spot, a health center, plateau lakes, and Jinke Tea Garden for wellness and leisure, alongside sports parks, walking parks, Huangshui Amusement Park, and Forest Kingdom, offering a variety of sports experiences.

The successful recognition of Huangshui as a national tourist resort is attributed to its exceptional climate and authentic Tujia charm. Huangshui's climate boasts optimal temperatures, altitude, air humidity, and purity. It is free from severe winter cold and extreme summer heat, with an average altitude of 1,500 meters and an annual relative humidity of approximately 65%, making it ideal for health and beauty. The air quality is outstanding, with negative oxygen ion concentrations reaching 2.5 times the highest standard in the Chinese meteorological industry.
