Chongqing - On September 13, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government held its 22nd press conference as part of the "Carrying Out New Missions: Counties Talk Implementation" series. Located in the Western part of Chongqing, Tongliang has made strides in new energy storage, a sector that defines its modern industrial landscape. The district secured a significant investment of 13 billion RMB(about $1.83 billion) for the Chongqing Haichen Energy Storage Base project. The flagship products of the base are next-generation lithium batteries and energy storage modules.

In 2023, Haichen Group ranked fifth globally and second in China for energy storage battery shipments. The project, the first lithium-based chemical energy storage plant in Chongqing, represents a breakthrough for Tongliang, surpassing the 10 billion RMB industrial project mark. The speed of its execution, from signing in one year, construction in the same year, to production the following year, is dubbed the "Tongliang speed."

The project's first phase went into production last December, with several upstream and downstream companies also establishing operations. A 10-square-kilometer new energy storage industrial park is taking shape. Once fully operational, it can produce 56 GWh of lithium batteries and 22 GWh of energy storage modules annually, with an estimated output value exceeding 30 billion RMB annually.

Tongliang District is also making efforts to boost its nighttime and tourism economy. The "Weekend in Tongliang" initiative has launched, aiming to revitalize the Longcheng Tianjie business district and create a bustling nighttime economy along the Huaiyuan River.

By promoting a blend of agriculture, culture, sports, business, and tourism, the district reported a total tourism income of 7.46 billion RMB in the first half of this year, marking a 14.1% year-on-year growth. The growth rate in the value-added output of the tertiary industry ranked first in Chongqing.

Tongliang offers scenic attractions year-round. Visitors can explore the thousand-year-old Anju ancient town, rediscover its nostalgic charm, or enjoy the spectacular dragon dance show. Walking along Xuantian Lake offers stunning views, while the live-action drama "Dream: Tongliang Dragon" brings the region's cultural heritage to life. The thrilling sight of molten iron at 1,600 degrees splashing during the fiery Dragon Dance performance is not to be missed. The Tongliang Dragon Football Team competes in the China League for sports enthusiasts, inviting fans to cheer on Chongqing. After exploring, visitors can indulge in the district's famous dishes like Lotus Banquet, offering an unforgettable culinary experience.

Tan Qing, Secretary of the Tongliang District Party Committee, extended an invitation, "We warmly welcome everyone to visit Dragon Town, watch the Dragon Dance, and admire the Dragon Lanterns. Here, you can fully immerse yourself in our unique history, culture, and folk traditions."
