Chinese Culture Camp in Busan Celebrates China-South Korea Friendship

Busan, South Korea - On October 25, the "2024 Chinese Culture Camp—South Korea's Busan" wrapped up after 14 enriching days in Busan. Busan's Overseas Chinese Primary and Secondary School students showcased their achievements at the closing ceremony, delighting attendees with vibrant performances.

Consul General of China in Busan, Chen Ribiao, attended the ceremony, congratulating the camp's success and thanking the Chongqing Overseas Friendship Association and Busan's Overseas Chinese schools for their support. He praised the event's accomplishments and emphasized that culture thrives through exchanges and mutual learning. "With over 5,000 years of history, Chinese culture is vast, and a short time hardly reveals its full depth," he said. 

He expressed the importance of establishing lasting exchange mechanisms between overseas Chinese schools and domestic institutions, hoping for stronger ties between Busan's Overseas Chinese schools and Chongqing, which will foster lasting connections between Chinese and South Korean youth.

Yu Xintao, Chairman of Busan's Overseas Chinese Council, thanked the teachers from Chongqing for their dedication and encouraged students to cherish this learning experience, expressing hope for more cultural exchanges in the future.

Busan Overseas Chinese School Principal Zhang Xiulan shared that students eagerly anticipated their daily Chinese culture classes, which brought life to the school. She extended her gratitude to the Chongqing teaching team for their efforts.

Representatives from Chongqing's Overseas Friendship Association highlighted that the camp's success resulted from the dedicated work of teachers and students' enthusiasm. Throughout the camp, students explored Chinese culture through language, martial arts, and calligraphy lessons, which planted a seed of cultural appreciation in their hearts, potentially blooming into a deeper cross-cultural understanding.

Teachers from Chongqing reflected on the two-week experience, commending the students' dedication and thanking everyone involved for their support. A student representative expressed gratitude for the diverse cultural experiences, noting how traditional Chinese martial arts left a lasting impression, emphasizing their commitment to preserving this cultural treasure.

In recognition of this partnership, Chongqing Normal University and Chongqing Jihua Middle School, designated national Chinese education bases, presented the school with calligraphy works and paper crafts, symbolizing a shared mission to cultivate young minds.

The event concluded with a vibrant showcase of the students' talents. As did traditional dances, martial arts demonstrations like "Youth Fist" captured the students' spirit. Other performances, such as the solo on the hulusi flute, calligraphy displays, and martial arts recitations, highlighted the deep cultural heritage of China. The recital of the classic poem "When Will the Moon Be Clear and Bright" invoked a sense of nostalgia, while a cheerful group rendition of "Delight at Sunrise" ended the cultural journey on a high note.

This event has strengthened cultural exchanges between China and South Korea, adding a new chapter to the friendship between Chongqing and Busan and setting the stage for continued cultural collaboration between the two cities.
