Chongqing Welcomes Tourists with Open Arms for 2025 Spring Festival

Chongqing - As the 2025 Spring Festival approaches, Chongqing is ready to welcome both domestic and international tourists with open arms. 

During the last Spring Festival, Chongqing's tourism market achieved new historical milestones when the city received 2.29 million tourists overnight and witnessed a substantial 9% increase compared to the same period in 2023. With its rich cultural heritage and magical landscapes this year, the mountain city has made extensive preparations to ensure a memorable and convenient experience for domestic and international visitors.

Enhanced transportation services

Chongqing has significantly improved its transportation infrastructure to welcome domestic and international tourists during the Spring Festival. For example, the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-Speed Railway now operates with advanced rail technology, ensuring safe and efficient travel. Additionally, the city has added 21 new ports of entry and exit, bringing the total to 60 ports across 24 provinces, regions, and municipalities. For international travelers to Chongqing, the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has also increased its capacity to handle more international flights, with Terminal 3A capable of handling 45 million passengers annually. Along with the new 240-hour visa-free transit policy, international visitors can explore the city without the trouble of obtaining or extending a visa.

Cultural and tourist attractions

Chongqing's iconic attractions, such as Ciqikou Ancient Town and Hongya Cave, are ready to enchant tourists with their historical charm. The Wulong Karst Tourism Area, known for its breathtaking natural beauty, and the Chongqing Zoo, home to adorable pandas, are expected to draw large crowds. This year, Chongqing is also honored to host a sub-venue for the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. The Spring Festival Gala, one of China's most-watched television events, is necessary for observing the festival and is expected to highlight Chongqing's most representative cultural elements to millions of viewers.
