Chongqing Unveils Futuristic T3B Terminal, A New Landmark in Global Aviation

Chongqing - On April 9th, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport officially launched operations at its highly anticipated T3B terminal —the world’s largest standalone satellite hall, spanning an impressive 363,000 square meters.

Designed with an innovative “X” layout, the terminal allows travelers to reach even the farthest gate within five minutes from the central hub. During an exclusive tour, WCICO anchor Alex experienced the seamless three-minute journey between T3A and T3B aboard a fully automated, driverless train. The ride features smart windows displaying real-time updates, and it's entirely free of charge, capable of handling over 10,700 passengers per hour at peak times.

Project lead Mr. Shen emphasized the terminal’s forward-thinking architecture, which blends past, present, and future elements. Sustainable design features include thermochromic skylights that adapt to sunlight, a ceiling that mimics a starlit sky, and compass-shaped hubs inspired by UFOs.

With the airport’s total annual capacity now reaching 80 million passengers, the T3B upgrade strengthens Chongqing’s status as a major aviation gateway for western China and beyond.
