Chongqing - On November 5, 2025, the 2025 Chongqing International Travel Agent Conference officially opened in Chongqing, marking its fifth successful edition since its inception in 2018.
The event, a significant international platform for the city's tourism industry, is organized by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, with support from ten local district and county governments. Fiji was the guest of honor, and around 400 participants attended, including consular officials, travel agents, government representatives, major airlines, industry associations, media, and online influencers from nearly 40 countries and regions.
At the opening ceremony, several cooperation agreements were signed between Chongqing's cultural and tourism organizations and international partners. Additionally, the Chongqing Professional Committee for Foreign-Language Tour Guides was inaugurated, and five foreign individuals were appointed as "2026 Chongqing Culture and Tourism Promotion Ambassadors."
The conference also showcased innovations in international medical tourism and introduced new entry facilitation policies aimed at enhancing Chongqing's inbound tourism development.

Zhao Shiqing, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing Chongqing’s role as a key strategic hub for China’s western development and its ambition to become a world-renowned cultural and tourism destination. He expressed Chongqing’s readiness to collaborate with global travel agents to explore new opportunities for cross-border tourism.
Keynote speakers included Josaia Rayawa from Tourism Fiji, who highlighted the shared vision of providing unforgettable experiences for travelers, and Marcel Leijzer from UN Tourism, who praised Chongqing's tourism growth and its potential to become an international tourism destination.
The conference also featured a series of policy briefings, including the release of new measures to facilitate inbound tourism. These included updates on visa policies, accommodation registration, and payment systems, ensuring that international visitors to Chongqing can enjoy a seamless experience.
During the event, five international influencers were honored for their contributions to promoting Chongqing’s culture and tourism. These individuals, including video bloggers from the UK, Australia, Russia, Thailand, and the US, have played a pivotal role in connecting global audiences with Chongqing’s attractions.
The conference's diverse activities are expected to strengthen Chongqing’s position as an international tourist destination, enhancing its cultural and tourism profile on the global stage. Participants will also explore various sectors of the city, including international medical services, cultural institutions, and tourism hotspots, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and growth in the inbound tourism sector.
