In an exclusive interview with iChongqing, the former star shared his first impressions of the city. "Although it's my first time here, I feel a sense of familiarity. The people on the streets are incredibly hospitable," Zola remarked. He acknowledged Chongqing’s famed "Mountain City" topography, noting the distinctive character he experienced firsthand. His itinerary offered a blend of panoramic views and local flavors. He visited the observation deck of the Chongqing World Financial Center (WFC), overlooking the city's spectacular, tiered skyline. He also explored the bustling snack street near Liberation Monument, a sight that amazed him. "I couldn’t believe there was such a huge street dedicated entirely to food," Zola said. Drawing a parallel to his homeland, he added.
"As an Italian, I deeply understand this, as both China and Italy have long, rich culinary histories. Food is not just about eating; it’s a huge part of social life and cultural experience." Zola expressed keen interest in Chongqing's famed hot pot, vowing to give it a try, and sampled local specialties like Chongqing spicy noodles. "They are quite similar to pasta, very spicy but delicious," he commented, intrigued by the local custom of eating noodles by using small stools as tables.
