Two Sessions Snapshot: International Commentators on Chongqing’s Green Industry Push

Chongqing - The 2026 Chongqing Two Sessions signaled a faster drive to build a modern industrial system anchored in advanced manufacturing, with the government work report also emphasizing greener production and lifestyles.

To show what that looks like on the ground, Bridging News invited two international commentators, U.S. journalist, analyst, and political economist Ben Norton, and Canadian entrepreneur and content creator Daniel Dumbrill, to visit Changan Automobile and the Sanfeng Environment waste-to-energy plant.

They highlighted Changan’s wide, affordable vehicle lineup and Sanfeng’s closed-loop practices—from liquid recycling to turning ash into construction materials.

The commentators called the operations highly professional, hailing them as a tangible sign of Chongqing’s large-scale low-carbon transition.
