The project, which uses rail as a connector, seeks to integrate the rich cultural heritage and modern achievements of both cities. It will offer passengers a unique cultural experience while strengthening cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing in tourism and cultural development. The launch of the themed train underscores the two cities' commitment to collaboration and marks the start of the 2026 train schedule.
Set to begin service in early March 2026, the train will feature a design that immerses passengers in the cultural essence of the Bashu region. The exterior of the train will feature dynamic lines that represent the ecological beauty of the Yangtze River, alongside cultural symbols and landmarks from both cities. Inside, passengers will experience multimedia displays highlighting cultural attractions, World Heritage Sites, and the vibrant lifestyle of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
The themed train will run regularly, with more than 300 trips planned for 2026, connecting key cities and areas across the region. It will also offer special routes focused on World Heritage and cultural sites. A new "Bashu Cultural Tourism Benefit Package" will be introduced, offering passengers discounts on attractions, accommodations, dining, and shopping to reduce travel costs and enhance the tourist experience.

It combines their tourism resources, historical landmarks, and modern achievements into one cohesive experience, utilizing the railway network to create a seamless travel route for visitors. The themed train is a significant step toward moving from joint promotion to developing high-quality, tangible cultural products.
With its innovative approach, the "Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor" themed train will not only serve as a transport link but also as a mobile ambassador for Bashu culture, helping to promote the region's heritage and modern trends. This project is designed to strengthen cultural tourism cooperation between Sichuan and Chongqing, enhance the region's global competitiveness, and contribute to the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
