Chongqing - The 2026 Chongqing Women's Half Marathon is set to kick off at 7:30 a.m. on March 29 along the picturesque Beibin Road in Liangjiang New Area, bringing together 15,000 participants from around the globe for one of China's premier female-focused running events.

Now in its eighth edition, the race has unveiled significant upgrades in organization, runner services, and prize structure, aiming to deliver a professional and seamless experience for athletes of all levels.
Scenic Course, Competitive Edge
The carefully curated course starts at Liujia Pier and winds along the Jialing River, offering runners panoramic views of nine iconic bridges and passing cultural landmarks including the 1862 Yangpao Bureau Cultural and Creative Park, Xu Beihong's Former Residence, and Baren Jishui Park.
With an average altitude of 198 meters and a cumulative elevation gain of just 35 meters, the flat, fast course is designed to help runners chase personal bests while immersing themselves in Chongqing's unique mountain-city landscape.
For the first time, the event will implement a wave start system based on pace zones, allowing runners of similar abilities to start together. This innovation aims to ease congestion and create optimal conditions for competitive performances.
Enhanced Awards and Recognition
The expanded prize system now covers more than 200 recipients across multiple categories, including overall placement, age group, and team awards. A newly introduced "Best Performance Award" spans three categories, with a top individual prize of 48,000 yuan (approximately $6,960) .

Organizers have also unveiled a redesigned "Bloom"-themed finisher medal, along with special commemorative medals for runners finishing within 1 hour and 45 minutes, celebrating the achievements of every woman crossing the finish line.
Beyond the Race: A City-Wide Celebration
The marathon extends far beyond the course itself. Liangjiang New Area has partnered with over 30 local businesses to offer runners and visitors exclusive discounts on attractions, hotels, dining, and shopping.
Participants can enjoy reduced admission to major tourist sites including Happy Valley, Jihua Park, and Liangjiang Movie City, along with special rates at more than 10 star-rated hotels. Themed travel routes—such as the "Riverside Fashion Line" and "Cultural Exploration Line"—have been curated for post-race exploration.
Shopping destinations including Chongqing Joy City, New World Department Store, and Maoye World will roll out promotions, while live houses and restaurants at Liujia Pier are offering complimentary drinks and discounts.
Cultural and Lifestyle Integration
The Chongqing Women's Federation, a co-organizer, has developed a series of activities blending sports with fashion and lifestyle. A design competition launched in January attracted 446 entries from five countries and more than 20 Chinese provinces.
In March, race participants will join professional models on the runway to showcase award-winning designs, sharing stories of entrepreneurial women in Chongqing. The immersive fashion presentation aims to highlight the confidence, independence, and diversity of contemporary women.
From March 26 to 28, the "Chongqing Good Products Joyful Market" will take over Guanyinqiao Pedestrian Walk, featuring local specialties and sports-related merchandise, inviting runners and tourists to "Run the Women's Race, Tour Chongqing."
Media Coverage and Broadcast
Chongqing Broadcasting Group will provide comprehensive "aesthetic broadcast" coverage of the event, leveraging its content, platform, and technology capabilities to capture runners framed against the Jialing River, city bridges, and skyline.
"As one of China's first road races designed specifically for women, the Chongqing Women's Half Marathon has grown into a signature event for mass sports participation," said Du Xueyong, Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Sports. "It represents a key step in moving healthy lifestyles from advocacy to action."
The event embodies Chongqing's commitment to addressing the fitness needs of key demographics while integrating sports with tourism, culture, and commerce—creating new momentum for the "Sports Plus" economy.
