Chongqing - An extraordinary new concert production, SUPERNOVA: West End Now – A London Theatre Gala, is set to make its world premiere on May 19, 2026, at the Chongqing Grand Theatre in Southwest China. Spanning decades and redefining the boundaries of musical theatre, GALA, the show, brings together eight of London's West End's current star performers in a career-spanning, immersive live experience.

Featuring over 20 songs, the repertoire ranges from the classic cabaret style to the modern deconstruction of Hadestown, covering beloved hits from the 1940s to the 2020s. Audiences will "speed-run" through the hottest West End shows in one night, with seamless transitions and high-energy staging that capture the essence of each original production.
The creative team is led by British director and choreographer Emma Clifford (known for Chicago, Mamma Mia!), music director Giles Deacon (musical director for Aladdin and conductor for the world tour of Les Misérables), and choreographer Alan Burkitt (renowned for Strictly Come Dancing).
Described as a "supernova explosion on stage," the concert promises to expand the sonic and emotional boundaries of live musical theatre. "When the new star explodes, wishes come true," say the organizers.
