Chongqing - The first all-English international broadcast program in Chongqing, the 228th episode of "Let's Meet," titled “In Conversation with a U.S. Expert: China’s System-Level Edge in Global Innovation”, jointly produced by the Western China International Communication Organization and Chongqing Satellite TV, will be aired on both domestic and international media on July 15.

Stephen Ezell: China Is a System-Level Competitor in Innovation

Today’s global tech race is no longer simply about being the first to achieve a breakthrough in a single technology. Increasingly, it is about how efficiently a country integrates technological, industrial, policy, and market resources. Stephen Ezell, Vice President for Global Innovation Policy at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), believes that the true strengths behind China’s technological competitiveness deserve closer attention, while western China, including Chongqing, is also set to play an important role in this global competition.

Chongqing's Minimally Invasive Technology Wins Over Foreign Patients

As more overseas patients turn their attention to China’s medical technologies, a minimally invasive procedure in Chongqing for a rare congenital heart condition has drawn particular interest. A surgical team led by Li Yonggang, director of cardiothoracic surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, successfully treated an Italian child with pulmonary artery sling. Without performing open-chest surgery, the team corrected the cardiovascular abnormality through a small posterolateral chest incision. The operation demonstrated the strength of China’s minimally invasive techniques and further strengthened overseas patients’ confidence in Chinese medical services.

Exploring Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University

Why is Chongqing attracting a growing number of overseas patients seeking medical treatment? Beyond advanced medical expertise, an international and convenient healthcare environment is equally important. The Liangjiang Campus of the Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University provides multilingual support, streamlined procedures, and caring services for children and families from China and abroad. In this episode, follow reporter Julius as he explores the hospital’s international medical services firsthand.
