RMB 52 billion was the investment amount of Nanshan Cultural Tourism Project announced at the Results Conference of 2018 Chongqing Global Travel Agents Conference (GTAC) this Thursday, November 15.
As the largest event on tourism that Nan’an District (Chongqing) has ever held, it invited over 500 guests from all over the world. With no doubt, the conference released fruitful results as well.
Qin Dingbo, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, made a presentation of the plan for Chongqing’s cultural tourism industry.
As so far, the main inbound tourism markets for Chongqing are Europe and the US. However, Chongqing now is aiming already at emerging markets such as Southeast Asia or Australia.
According to Qin, the promotion of the cultural tourism industry of Chongqing should be more diversified.
On one hand, it should “go out of China”. That is to say, Chongqing will keep cooperation with overseas media so that the foreign public will know Chongqing. Chongqing Cultural and Tourism International Communication Center unveiled during the conference, which will show the diversified city to the world. Besides this, Chongqing will aim at overseas promotion meetings for both travel agents and ordinary people. As of now, Chongqing has already established 10 culture & tourism promotion centers overseas.
On the other hand, there will be more opportunities for foreigners to have a close look at Chongqing. For instance, the GTAC 2018 was a good example. In addition, Chongqing will deepen the cooperation with its sister cities and cities along the Belt and Road and the South Transport Corridor.
In the speech of Mo Yuquan, deputy director of the People’s Government of Nan’an District, he announced the achievements during the GTAC 2018.
In terms of the Nanshan project, the investments will be used in the infrastructure and the construction, including the upgrading of roads and parking, and the B&B hotels, and so on. Apart from these, there will also be a special project themed on Hot Pot of Chongqing.
In addition to the RMB 52-billion-project of Nanshan, Nan’an District also signed agreements with enterprises or travel agencies of the US and Singapore. The goal was to develop and expand the international tourism market.
For example, the Tourism Bureau of Nan’an District signed a strategic cooperation agreement on expansion in the international tourism market with American Society of Travel Agents. The latter, with about 500 members of travel agencies, will empower Nan’an in global expansion in tourism.
Via the GTAC 2018 and further plans, Chongqing expected to turn itself into a global tourist destination.
