On December 6, the Chongqing Sports Tourism Industry Development Conference was held in Wansheng Economic and Technological Development Zone. More than 300 authorities, including leaders of the government, relevant departments, enterprises, as well as experts and scholars, participated in the conference. In addition, some of them focused on sports and tourism fields to improve the sports tourism industry in Chongqing.

How does Will Sports Industry develop in Chongqing?

Recently, the Administration of Sport of Chongqing formulated and introduced the Action Plan for Advancing the Development of Sports Industry (2018-2022) and Action Plan for Building a National Prime Destination of Outdoor Sports (2018-2022) (hereinafter referred to as the “Action Plans”). It will facilitate the total size of the sports industry in Chongqing to exceed RMB 60 billion by 2022. Meanwhile, it will account for more than 1% of GDP. Therefore, the sports industry gradually becoming the new economic growth point of the city.

Centered on the Action Plans, Chongqing prepares to take great pains to establish 5 demonstration plots for sports tourism. They are Wansheng Demonstration Area for Global Sports Tourism, Wulong Demonstration Area for Wuling Mountain Outdoor Sports, Urban Sports Tourism Demonstration Area, Sports Tourism Demonstration Area of Three Gorges Reservoir Region, and Longxing Demonstration Area for Modern Fashion Sports Tourism. It will actively commit to creating a national demonstration zone of sports tourism. Moreover, Chongqing will accelerate the development of leisure sports routes and sports tourism projects along the river and mountains. Meanwhile, it will spend 3 years to plan, design, identify, release, and launch 10 exquisite routes of sports tourism. Thus, the city will establish 10 municipal demonstration zones of sports tourism and more than 36 events brands.

2018 is an important year for the city. Chongqing’s sports industry will realize 53 contract projects of investment promotion with the investment of RMB 69.068 billion in total. Furthermore, there are 35 projects with a planned investment of more than RMB 10 million and 17 projects with a planned investment of over RMB 100 million.
