January 3 saw the issuance of the Map of the Most Beautiful Homestays in Chongqing. It is the joint creation of Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and Chongqing Geographic Information Center. Therefore, tourists can seek the homestays they love, to enjoy their idle and leisure time.
Here are some homestays for your leisure time in Chongqing.
Bayu Homestay stands in Changhong Village, Tongcheng Town, Wuxi County. It consists of 18 red-roofed stone-wall buildings along the winding mountains. Each of them is named after the host’s name or local stories and scenery. There are 15 owners who were registered poor households, yet they serve as the guardians of this village now.
The traditional “Zouma Turn Turret” (a kind of architecture style) is covered by loam walls. Inside the building is something with local characteristics such as “Huotang”. It is a Chinese fireplace for farmers to warm themselves and smoke preserved meat.
“Nanmu” is a type of wood used in architectural woodworking and boat-building. And Nanmu Bay is situated in Neikou Village, Liangzeng Township. Near the A’peng River, it sits between Gongtan Ancient Town and Taohuayuan (Peach Blossom Spring) Scenic Area. 18 Tujia-style homestays, in a courtyard layout, are located among groups of “Phoebe Zhennan S. Lee” (a precious Chinese wood). In addition to going natural in secluded mountains, tourists can also enjoy “Chouxi”, a long-standing humorous drama in Youyang County.
Jinyun Xiaozhu is an artistic homestay, previously an earth house. The sloping topography maximizes its touch with nature. Therefore, with both original beauty and modern neatness, it is popular among the youth.
Hidden in the Nanshan Mountain, it looks elegant and simple. The bottle green mountain is in harmony with the burlywood building. So it is an ideal choice to make tea, coupled with some cake, and appreciate the forest-covered mountain. Furthermore, accompanied by little animals, visitors can also feel the serenity of nature during the time precipitated. The name is a homonym of “Xu Du” that refers to “idling away”. Moreover, “Wu Xing” theory (Five Elements) explains a wide array of phenomena in Chinese culture. This theory includes “Water” and “Earth” and this house has mountains and rivers nearby, hence the name.
