The demonstration base locates at Yuzui-Fusheng Industrial Development Zone, covering about 346,666 ㎡ with the investment of RMB 1.5 billion. After the construction, the demonstration base will depend on Chongqing Guoyuan Port and Yuzui Freight Station. In the meantime, it will integrate the transportation of water, rail, air, highway, and so on. Besides, it will establish a functional zone of multimodal transportation demonstration operating and supporting regions. Therefore, the demonstration base will become an international multimodal logistics hub, connecting “Belt and Road”, the Yangtze River Economic Zone, and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

“1+1” Multimodal Transport and Logistics Demonstration Project

On September 2016, China and Singapore had reached a consensus on China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstrative Initiative on Strategic Connectivity. Moreover, the project intended to use the cooperation mode of “1+1”, building two market entities that emphasize different business – China-Singapore (Chongqing) Logistics Development Co., Ltd. and China-Singapore (Chongqing) multimodal distribution and connectivity Co., Ltd.

Currently, China-Singapore (Chongqing) Logistics Development Co., Ltd. take advantages of integration of PSA International, Pacific International Lines, Kerry Logistics, and so on. In the meanwhile, it will cooperate with relevant ports and rail companies to open 4 international rail-sea transportation routes. These 4 routes all began from Chongqing and arrive overseas, passing by other domestic cities. Additionally, it achieved about 700TEU of containers’ carriage, through the 4 routes.

On the other hand, China-Singapore (Chongqing) multimodal distribution and connectivity Co., Ltd. completed the overall planning. It will create the logistics cooperation demonstrative zone, the collection of China (Chongqing) – ASEAN logistics enterprises, China-Singapore International trade center, as well as the public ICD for coastal ports and borders. Moreover, the demonstrative zone will provide storage yards and business to the international logistics channels.

Advantages of Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) Multimodal Transportation Demonstration Base

According to Chongqing Liangjiang New Era, the demonstration base will take advantages of multimodal and integrated transportation in Chongqing. Similarly, it will also bring superiorities of advanced technologies and managerial experiences in Singapore. Hence, the base can solve problems of transport, lagged information, and so on, increasing the efficiency and reducing the cost of logistics. Furthermore, it aims to develop transport and logistics value-added services and grow multi-modal transportation networks for West China, with Chongqing as an international inland logistics hub.
