Chongqing- Lanterns are raised up high to welcome Chinese New Year. It’s high time for families in China to prepare for the biggest annual event.

Camellia from China and John from England are newly married couple in Chongqing. Before their visit to Camellia’s big family during Chinese New Year, they are looking for the cute red pocket envelope.

John works in an educational exchange program between Coventry University and Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing. Camellia works for the Chongqing office of European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. Decorating the house, getting married, starting with the new job make 2018 a big and fruitful year for John and Camellia.

“It’s the first Spring Festival that we will go home as husband and wife,” John said happily. Soon they will visit Camellia’s family to experience an authentic Chinese New Year. As preparation, they bought the red pocket envelope(Hongbao in Chinese) where lucky money will be put in. “We will give the young children the red pockets and before that, they have to say us Happy New Year.” Said John.

Looking into the new year, the couple has some wishes for their life. Click the video to see what they are.
