Chongqing’s annual cultural feast for audiences across China -the 2019 Chongqing Chinese New Year Gala was recorded on 22 January, with the main venue at the 2400 square meters studio in Chongqing Broadcasting Group (CBG), another venue in Tongliang, and three special shooting spots in Tongnan, Fengdu and a night view cruise on the Yangtze River.

With the hot opening dance and the theme music of a popular movie Happiness Is Coming that was shot in Chongqing, the 2019 Chongqing Chinese New Year Gala officially kicked off. The followed cheerful  "seagrass dance" and “meow, meow, meow” sound, led the gala into a very exciting and lively atmosphere.

Chongqing is famous for its great delicacies in China. In the ‘Chongqing Taste’ part, the song of ‘Chongqing Taste & Small Noodles’ and ‘Hi Hotpot’ perfectly interpreted the spicy city.

Last summer the first Smart China Expo was held in Chongqing. The smart technologies and products have become more and more involved in people's daily lives in Chongqing. The first robot host ever on Chongqing CNY Gala walked onto the stage. His name is “Da Niu”. With a child’s voice, he can answer every question of the fellow hosts. The eye-catching robot host was so cute and funny that made all the audiences laugh and laugh.

He hongshan and Wang Xiaocheng, two actresses from Chongqing who played parts in one of the most popular TV series Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace sang a song "Happy Postcards" which reflected the city’s unforgettable memories. Chen Zihan, an actress also from Chongqing and her husband Dai Xiangyu sang "Happy New Year" to the audiences. The famous singer Zhang Mai sang a song " The Proud Builder" to thank the devotion of the builders for the city.

The famous singer Huo Zun presented on the gala for the second time. He sang a song with his father Huo Feng who is also a popular singer in China.   The famous talented singer Tan Weiwei brought the most exciting moment of the night. She sang two songs, "lighthouse" and "If there is another life".

Besides the singing and dancing programs, “Dou Le Fang”, a local Chongqing entertainment workshop, which is the sixth time on the stage of the gala, brought group crosstalk "interesting childhood" to the audiences. With humorous language, they recalled great changes in people's lives in the past 40 years of China’s reform and opening-up period.

2019 is the year of pig in China. The Gala invited two special guests ---- a pair of panda piggies onto the stage to extend best wishes to the audiences.

The 2019 Chongqing Chinese New Year Gala will broadcast at 19:30 February 2, 2019, on Chongqing TV satellite channel. And it will also air on Chongqing TV international channel which covers most parts of the world.
