Chongqing - On January 26, the CPPCC Chongqing Committee annual session was held at the Great Hall of the People. A number of consul generals also attended the meeting. So, what's the foreign diplomats' impression of this city?

A city with fast development

Steven Pang is the Consul General of Singapore in Chengdu. For him, Chongqing is not a new city. He has visited this huge city several times in the past year.

“I’m happy to be here to learn about how is Chongqing doing and what’s the future plan.” Pang said, “There are a number of cooperation projects between Singapore and Chongqing, especially China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI), which provides a very good platform for Singapore and Chongqing to carry out in the four key areas of financial services, aviation industry, transportation and logistics, and information and communication.”

To Martin Allgaeuer, the Consul General of Austria in Chengdu, this city is also familiar. He visited Chongqing for the first time in 1983.

According to him, the changes here are tremendous, and the urban greening is well-done. “I have been to Chongqing twice after being the Consul General of Austria in Chengdu. I hope to be here more frequently to promote the cooperation between Austria and Chongqing.” He added.

A city with unique landscape

Meanwhile, in the eyes of Filippo Nicosia, the Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, Chongqing is also a special city with unique landscapes.

Chongqing, as an important industrial base in China, is also strong in automobile manufacturing. “As everyone knows, Ford has a large factory in Chongqing. Many American companies are very optimistic about Chongqing's development and consumer capabilities.” Said Jim Mullinax, the Consul General of the United States in Chengdu.

As for Jeff David, the Consul General of Canada in Chongqing, he talked about his impression of this city as well. “It’s gorgeous. I like it very much!” Besides, David is a spicy food lover, especially the famous hot pot of Chongqing.
