Chinese New Year: Chongqing Sees Tourism Boom During Spring Festival

Chongqing - February 4 was the first day of the Spring Festival holiday in China, and the city tour continued to be hot in Chongqing.

For examples, Hongyadong scenic spot received 48,000 tourists, with a year-on-year increase of 500%. Also, Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway received 10,300 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 14.44%.

In terms of passengers transported by air, railway, water and highway to Chongqing, the number reached 1,392,900 passengers, with a year-on-year increase of 0.04%.

Meanwhile, the inbound tourists to Chongqing mainly come from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore and other countries or regions. Among them, tourists from Hong Kong ranked first, accounting for 43.6% of the total number of inbound visitors.

According to preliminary statistics, on the first day of the holiday, Yuzhong District received 967,300 tourists, an increase of 10.55%; Jiulongpo District received 548,800, an increase of 10.71%; Yubei District received 407,100, an increase of 11.44%; Nan’an District received 337,600, an increase of 19.29%.

In addition, outside the downtown Chongqing, other districts and counties also received many tourists. For instance, Wansheng District received 158,900 tourists, Hechuan District received 105,700 passengers, Yunyang County received 210,500 passengers, Zhongxian County received 150,400 passengers, and Fengdu County received 135,500 passengers.

During the Spring Festival holiday, Chongqing launched about 200 cultural and tourism activities, so that the tourists can be able to enjoy the festive atmosphere of this city.
