Chongqing - During the 2019 Spring Festival holiday, Chongqing received a large number of visitors due to its unique tourism resources and also, the good weather during these days.
According to preliminary statistics from Chongqing Municipal Committee for Culture and Tourism Development, during the holiday, Chongqing Municipality received a total of 47,259,800 visitors, including both domestic and foreign tourists, with a year-on-year increase of 10.26%. Meanwhile, the total tourism revenue reached RMB 18.029 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.82%.
During the seven-day holiday, the transport system of Chongqing handled a total of 24,987,200 passengers, a year-on-year growth of 0.82%. It is worth mentioning that not only downtown but also the suburban districts and counties of Chongqing prepared all kinds of activities and celebrations for tourists.
For instance, Wulong Karst Scenic Area received 203,300 visitors, and realized a tourism income of RMB 19.3 million, a year-on-year growth of 1.3% and 0.8% respectively; Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area received 102,700 visitors, and realized a tourism income of RMB 11.15 million, up 5.79% and 3.73% respectively; Locajoy Theme Park received 76,800 visitors, achieving a tourism income of RMB 23.26 million, an increase of 5.9% and 4.96% respectively.
In terms of the city tour, the landmarks of this megacity continued being popular.
Hongyadong received 686,000 tourists, a year-on-year growth of 261.05%; Yangtze River Cableway received 124,500 tourists, up 14.33%; Geleshan Martyrs Cemetery received 197,700 tourists; Three Gorges Museum received 87,600 tourists; Chongqing Zoo received 145,000 visitors, realizing a tourism income of RMB 3.85 million; Expo Garden received 154,600 tourists, and realized a tourism income of RMB 1,607,400; Chongqing Nanshan Botanical Garden received 103,200 tourists, realizing a tourism income of RMB 4,766,600; Liangjiang International Movie City received 130,900 tourists and the tourism income reached RMB 5,460,600.
In addition, Chongqing, as the Global Hot Spring Capital, attracted many tourists for a hot-spring-tour in the cold season. For example, the Northern Hot Spring, which is one of the most known hot spring resort in Chongqing, hosted 0.5 million visitors, a year-on-year growth of 50%. Also, such hot-spring-themed hotels as Bolian Resorts & SPA, Sheenjoy and Banyan Tree kept a very high occupancy rate of 95% during the holiday.
