In the Chaotianmen area, the famous port and tourism attraction in Chongqing, a 2,700-meter-long Hongya Dong-Chaotianmen-Huguang Guild Hall riverside sightseeing line will witness an overall improvement in management, the source of Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau said on February 23. In addition, the related departments follow the philosophy of conforming to nature, respecting history, inheriting culture, and highlighting the contemporary era. Moreover, they will build a stereoscopic cultural ecology park to reshape the “door of opening up” evoking the memory of old Chongqing.

How does today’s Chaotianmen refresh the history and reflect the city spirit of Chongqing in this new era?

As the poem says, “with lights from a myriad of houses, the scenery is imposing, the river is flowing westward and turns back to the east.” Additionally, Chaotianmen is one of the 17 ancient gates of Chongqing and the most representative cultural symbol.

The improvement of Chaotianmen governance is an important part of the governance promotion of the “Two Rivers and Four Riversides”. Meanwhile, the “two rivers” are the Yangtze River and Jialing River. The “four riversides” are Nanbin Road, Changbin Road, Jiabin Road, and Beibin Road. In recent years, Chaotianmen area is facing the problems of traffic congestions and lacking cultural contents and public utilities. Thus it is necessary to improve the functions and reshape the external facade of the area.

For the above-stated reasons, Chongqing Planning and Natural Resources Bureau started the governance promotion plan of this area in 2018. They take building a stereoscopic cultural ecology park in Chaotianmen as the target. Moreover, they will construct it into a “door of mountains and rivers” to reveal the harmony between people and nature. It will be a “door of culture” carrying the dock memory of Chongqing. Besides, as a “door of opening up”, the area will become the urban landmark of Chongqing. Furthermore, it will embody the city image of “A Tour in Chongqing, A Gain in Vision”.
