Relations between states lies in their peoples

Mr. Keith Lommel from U.S. Consulate General Chengdu delivered a speech in Chinese. He encouraged more people to explore beautiful natural scenery in both countries. Meanwhile, it is necessary to make concerted efforts to protect the scenery and wildlife.

Fan Qing from the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government mentioned that the key to sound relations between states lies in the affinity between their peoples. Additionally, the photography exhibit represents a good opportunity in that regard.

Ren Jing, Curator of Chongqing Library said that the municipal library will continue to give its play as a window for China-U.S. exchanges and let peoples in the two countries have a better understanding. Moreover, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the relationship established between Chongqing Library and U.S. Consulate General Chengdu.

About the two photographers

From the slopes of sacred Mt Kailas on the Tibetan Plateau to the wild and remote rivers of Bhutan, to the floe edge of the Canadian Arctic, Jed is devoted to capturing images of wildlife and culture in hard to reach places. Jed has spent much of the past 15 years exploring and shooting the rivers, landscapes, and people of the Greater Himalaya region. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, he is currently working on a project with Russ Mittermeier of Conservation International documenting endangered primates of China. He is also an accomplished underwater photographer, specializing in cold-water environs. Jed is grateful that his work allows him to explore rugged landscapes and unique cultures while pursuing his passions for wildlife and adventure.

Mr. Wang Jianjun joined the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in 1970 and resigned in 1995. He then started his own companies, Sichuan Xinchen Studio, and Sichuan West Photographing Tourism Company. A professional photographer, he is a member of the China Photographers Association and the World Chinese Photography Union. He has been passionate about exploring and shooting of landscapes of West China, human geography and historic themes over the years.
