Recently, the “Artificial Auxiliary Verification of Intelligent Security System” started its trial operation in Hohhot Baita International Airport, Inner Mongolia. Intelligent Security Technology Center of Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology, CAS, Sirsec and Hohhot Baita International Airport jointly researched and developed the system. CAAC North China Administration approved to use the system in the airport. Meanwhile, it will be fully operational at the airport by the end of March. Therefore, it means the official launch of China’s first face recognition security system and its application process. Throughout the journey, you only need to show your ID card once in addition.

The “Artificial Auxiliary Verification of Intelligent Security System” is the latest research achievement of “Intelligent Identification System for Airport Security Inspection”. And the latter is one of the major projects for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements initiated by CAS.

“It has greatly improved the traffic efficiency and reduced the labor cost of the airport, according to the field trial operation statistics.” Luo Daijian, a senior engineer of Intelligent Security Technology Center said. The system allows passengers to show their ID card only once during the security check. Then, they can scan their faces in the following steps. For example, the identity review at the security check channel and the passenger information review at the boarding gate. There is no need to show their boarding pass, QR code or others for verification during the whole journey.

“The system promotes the transformation of security check process from manual verification to manual auxiliary verification.” Shi Yu, Director of Intelligent Security Technology Center told us. Administration of North China of CAAC approved the pilot application of the new process. Furthermore, it is the first face recognition technology applied in the whole process of security check in China. Besides, it will be fully operational at Hohhot Baita International Airport by the end of March.
