This year, Chongqing’s import-export volume achieved RMB 83.92 billion in the first two months, increased by 17.4% compared with the same period of last year. Chongqing Customs District P.R.CHINA (Chongqing Customs) released the news. Specifically, the value of exports was up to RMB 56.44 billion, with an increase of 24%. The value of imports was up to RMB 27.48 billion, with a growth of 5.7%.

Chongqing trade with EU and ASEAN

Overall, the Chongqing-EU and Chongqing-ASEAN trade contacts are increasingly intensified in January and February this year. The Chongqing-EU and Chongqing-ASEAN import-export volumes have reached RMB 19.35 billion and RMB 13.39 billion. And the year-on-year growths are 36.8% and 18.1% respectively.

According to Chongqing Customs, in January and February, Chongqing’s import-export volume has the following two features. One is the processing trade grows continuously. The other one is market entities stay active.

Processing trade

In January and February, Chongqing’s import-export volume of processing trade was RMB 40.54 billion with a growth of 25.3% year-on-year. It accounted for 48.3% of Chongqing’s total foreign trade value in the same period. The value of exports was up to RMB 35.35 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 27.9%. The value of imports was up to RMB 5.19 billion, grew by 9.9% compared with the same period of last year.

Market entities

As for market entities, in January and February, the import-export volume of foreign-invested enterprises in Chongqing totaled RMB 48.75 billion. And the growth was 20.4%. Meanwhile, the import-export volume of private enterprises reached RMB 25.65 billion with an increase of 21.2%. Furthermore, the number of enterprises with import and export performances in Chongqing has increased from 1,996 (same period last year) to 2,162. Among them, the number of private enterprises increased from 192 to 1,702, and the market entities remained vitality.
