2019 Fengdu Temple Fair will soon open in Chongqing, China. Here Is the Guide for You!

According to the introduction of the Publicity Department of Fengdu County, Fengdu will hold the 2019 Fengdu Temple Fair from April 5 to 10. The activity this year will retain the characteristics of the folk custom and experience, fully manifest Fengdu’s elegant demeanor of “rich cultures”, “lush landscape”, and “abundant natural resources”.

There had been records of Fengdu Temple Fair in the Western Jin Dynasty (266-316 A.D.), which was particularly flourished in the Tang (618-907 A.D.) and Qing (1636-1912 A.D.) Dynasties. It develops up to now accompanied with the “folk culture of Fengdu Ghost City”, and the State Council included it in the list of national intangible cultural heritage in 2014. Held on the 3rd day of the third Chinese lunar month every year, each session of the temple fair attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from home and abroad. It has become a large-scale activity of cultural tourism and business, with certain international popularity and reputation, as well as continuous enhancement of its influence.

With a history of over 1,900 years, Fengdu is famous for the “Ghost City”, and it has always been the first stop for cruise passengers of the Yangtze River. The Fengdu Ming Mountain is one of the first national 4A-level scenic areas in China, and also a famous historical and cultural city originated in the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.).

It is not only a legendary “Ghost City”, but also a treasure house of folk culture and art integrating Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
