Chongqing- As the “City of Poems” in China Chongqing, Fengjie County will open a live-action poem extravaganza, Return to the Three Gorges, from March 28. It is directed by the team of Zhang Yimou. The live-action show regards 10 famous Chinese poems as the performance contents. Moreover, Return to the Three Gorges will walk onstage from March 28.

As a live-action performance, Return to the Three Gorges integrates natural viewings of Fengjie County a lot. The stage is chosen at a water area near the Three Gorges along with the Yangtze River. In the meantime, the stage covers more than 8,600 m², drawing water from the Yangtze River. Therefore, all actors and actresses will give the performance on the water. Fengjie County is surrounded by mountains and water, so it takes advantages of water performance. The show expresses the admiration of the mother river of China.

According to Impression Wonders Arts Development Co., Ltd., the show took them two years from receiving the invitation to the final rendering. The famous director Zhang Yimou himself directed the show at first, including the site investigation as well as 10 modifies.

It integrates new technologies and arts in a perfect way, as the one and the only one in China. For example, there are 63 control systems for wire stunts, hidden into the underwater conveyor belts. There are two shipyards join the preparation of the show, providing 20,000 tons of stage and more than 9,000 tons of spectator seats.

Moreover, to offer a perfect experience for audiences, Fengjie County and the company will keep adjusting and upgrading for the show, including the contents, technologies, and equipment.

The word “return” has two meanings

In 1990, there was a tide of the farewell tour because of the establishment for the Three Gorges Dam. Afterward, the trip to the Three Gorges had once fallen into the low ebb. However, the natural viewings are even more gorgeous after the Three Gorges Reservoir of the Yangtze River. Hence, the show, Return to the Three Gorges, has the first meaning of returning to the trip to the Three Gorges. The show will embrace a new era of the Three Gorges tours.

Furthermore, the word “return” also indicates the splendid Chinese culture is coming back. Different from other entertainment shows, Return to the Three Gorges is on the basis of traditional Chinese poems. Additionally, there will be supplementary explanations of poems in the show.
