Chongqing-The 2019 Chongqing International Marathon, or CIM, kicked off on Nanbin Road, downtown Chongqing, China. Raffles Hospital Chongqing, a member of Raffles Medical Group – an all-cover medical group leading in Asia, sponsored CIM for the first time. As the first international hospital to bolster this event, it offers well-arranged medical services to the runners.

During the CIM, Raffles Hospital set up medical spray spots and international rehabilitation area along the route and at the post-game recovery area, and deployed relevant medical personnel, thus providing professional medical services during and after the game.

“As an international medical institution, Raffles Hospital is capable of offering a medical mechanism familiar to foreign runners. In addition, since some medical staff at Raffles Hospital are proficient in English, Chinese and other languages, we are more experienced in providing all necessary assistance for international runners." Dr. Yang Qingyuan, director of Raffles Hospital, said. 

At the marathon site, in addition to Chinese runners receiving rehabilitation treatment, there are many foreign runners in the rehabilitation area of Raffles Hospital. An elite runner from Africa told reporters when he participated in the Chongqing Marathon in the past, he was worried that he could not communicate well with the doctor due to linguistic obstacles. Now that there is an international hospital, he can tell exactly what he need to doctors at Raffles Hospital in English.

It is learned that apart from international medical rescue stations set up during the event, Raffles Hospital also specially tailored 1,000 free health check-up packages for the runners to help them prepare for and recover after the game. All CIM runners, if registered through Raffles Hospital's official channels before April 30, 2019, will be granted 20% limited edition of marathon membership cards.

In addition to leveraging its medical resources to support the CIM, Raffles Hospital also organized a marathon runner team to participate in the event. Each member of our team intended to cheer for the game through their active participation. The team consists of doctors and nurses at Raffles Hospital, who contested at the half-marathon, full-marathon and mini-run.
