2019 Looking China Chongqing Youth Film Project Screening Opening Ceremony Kicks off in SW China

Chongqing-Ten young directors from various countries met in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality for the 2019 Looking China Chongqing Youth Film Project Screening Opening Ceremony, April 10, 2019. These directors from Italy, Spain, Slovakia, Palestine, and Poland are scheduled to make Chongqing-related films, themed with “Moments, Seasons and Times”, in the next two weeks. Additionally, Southwest University in Beibei District is the event organizer.

An extraordinary experience

Francesco Cardinali, professor of University of Macerata, Italy, mentioned he started his salutatorian speech for the Looking China 2017 opening ceremony in Beijing, capital of China. Additionally, it is his first time to Chongqing. “Looking China is really an extraordinary experience,” he talked about the project and added, “Looking China, above all, is a very well designed initiative, organized to improve and maximize cooperation, group work and human relations, exchanging culture knowledge and skills.”

Carina Diana Holhos, the representative of the foreign directors, said, “Italy and China have always been good friends even if they live a bit far from each other.” She thought Chongqing represents the best city for them to talk about the topic given by Looking China this year.

Museum visits and cultural experiences

After the ceremony, the young directors and their producers from the Beibei-based university visited Beibei Museum and the Chongqing Natural History Museum. Later, they experienced paper-cutting and other handicrafts.

Looking China Youth Film Project is a Chinese cultural experience project hosted by the Beijing Normal University Huilin Foundation and the China Culture International Communication Research Institute. This project aims to showcase China's simplicity and prosperity, ancient and fashion through the unique perspective of foreign young filmmakers, and strengthen cross-cultural communication, exchanges, and cooperation between Chinese and foreign youths.
