Chongqing- Chongqing Municipality in Southwest China released a white paper on intellectual property on April 26, 2019. The day was also World Intellectual Property Day.

According to the Chongqing Intellectual Property Office, The year of 2018 saw 72,121 patent applications in Chongqing, an increase of 11.56% year on year. Moreover, 45,688 patents were granted, an increase of 31.36% over the same period of last year.
Chongqing further improved intellectual property laws and regulations. In addition, the city established better systems and mechanisms to protect intellectual property rights. The Chongqing Liangjiang New Area People’s Court and Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone People’s Court was established. The capacity of intellectual property right protection has been further enhanced.
Intellectual property administrative enforcement became increasingly strict. Administrative agencies at all levels filed and investigated 3,660 cases of various types of infringement and counterfeiting.
The judicial protection of intellectual property rights continued to increase. In 2018, 10,435 IPR cases in the first and second instance were accepted and heard, and 9,926 concluded.
In terms of international cooperation, the Chongqing Intellectual Property Office built a platform for international patent technology transfer and transformation and established an exchange and cooperation mechanism for intellectual property protection, transfer, and transformation.
