Chongqing-The 7th Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival and Chinese University Students Master of Ceremony Competition took place in Beibei District of Chongqing, China, April 29, 2019.

In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, the organizing committee of the Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival and Southwest University as the event hosts give the full play of film and culture connecting China and the rest of the world and help more excellent university students shine on the international stage.
The 7th Vancouver (International) Chinese Film Festival with China as a sub-venue witnessed two major events concerning the microfilm and the host. Specifically, there were 438 host contestants from 110 colleges and universities, and the microfilm contest received entries from more than 70 higher institutions. Moreover, the outstanding winners in this host contest are invited to Vancouver for the opening and closing ceremonies of the film festival. At the same time, 22 microfilms will also be directly promoted for the Red Maple Leaf Award.
Taking culture and art as the medium, this event has embarked on a new path of cooperation. It is a joint effort of the international film festival, university and government to promote the integration and development of regional cultural tourism.
After the ceremonial event, Christine Song, president of Vancouver (International) Chinese Film Festival took an interview with iChongqing, “We have the mission of promoting Chinese films and Chinese culture, so we started to prepare the Vancouver (International) Chinese Film Festival in 2012 and then we have the first film festival in Vancouver in 2013.” She added, " As a Canadian Chinese, it is our mission and responsibility to help the young generations to know about the Chinese culture."
