Chongqing- “It is a pulling and pushing process for us to choose Chongqing as our investment city, whereas our customers suggested us to set manufacture in Chongqing and local government provided us good conditions and services”, said Jerry Hsu, Director of Kinpo Group in Chongqing, at the eve of the Asia300 Chongqing Summit, on May 15,2019. “Chongqing`s location gave it development potential”. Hsu talked about the investment environment of Chongqing and the company`s future development direction.

A quarter of products are Made in Chongqing 

Initially, Jerry Hsu introduced that Kinpo Group was established in 1973 in Taiwan, they started their first factory in mainland Kunshan in the 1990s. 5 years ago, Kinpo Group shifts to Chongqing and started their investment with bonus and benefit promised by local government and customers. In nowadays, Kinpo produced 4,300,000 products per year, a quarter of their products made in Chongqing. Due to Chongqing`s location as the core city of the development of the western region in China, it has competitive advantages for logistics from Asia to the Middle East and Europe. “It is a pulling and pushing process for us to choose Chongqing as our investment city, whereas our customers suggested us to set manufacture in Chongqing and local government provided us good conditions and services”, said Mr. Hsu, “Chongqing`s location gave it development potential”.

When facing the challenge by the trade disputes between China and the United States, Mr. Hsu said that Kinpo Group has plants in southeast Asia and serve the customers in that region, which can also export their products to the U.S. In the meanwhile, Kinpo Group`s Chongqing products are mainly exported to European and the Middle East customers.

Suggestions on industrial upgrading

Mr. Hsu suggested that Taiwan developed its industrial manufacture in an early time, they used to categorize their industry division in detail. Chongqing should locate its foothold technique and deepen the development from the foundation starts from training talents.

5G is the future direction

What is the new direction of Kinpo`s development in the future? Mr. Hsu mentioned that he and his company are focusing on 5G`s technology development. “different from transformation from 3G to 4G on the mobile use, 5G is about helping human and society into a total digital smart life”, said Mr. Hsu, “besides your mobile phone, 5G could connect to your smart wear and more.” Mr. Hsu also introduces Kinpo`s exploration of Smart Medical Care. “Imagine your personal info recorded with your phone, once you were in an emergency, the ambulance will locate your address after you made the call with a smartphone, and there will be equipment and treatment on the way to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital, it will recognize the doctors and treatment automatically. All of these must depend on the application of 5G. I hope there are possibilities for 5G ideas with Chongqing to achieve the smart life as our future direction.” he added.
