Chongqing—The 2^nd Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade ("WCIFIT" for short) has been successfully concluded on May 19, 2019. Xu Xincheng, Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, introduced the achievements of this year's "WCIFIT" on the closing day.  According to the statistical data from the executive committee, the WCIFIT 2019 witnessed the signing of 271 domestic and foreign projects, with a contract value of RMB 549.78 billion, involving in various fields of intelligent manufacturing, biological pharmacy, new materials, new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, modern logistics, and ecological protection.

Attracting about 70,000 exhibitors and visitors

The 2^nd WCIFIT, as introduced by Xu Xincheng, has attracted over 7,800 enterprises (organizations) and about 70,000 people from 7 sub-provincial cities, 2 special administrative regions, 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), and 95 countries (regions).

Among the above-mentioned enterprises, there were over 2,000 multinational companies, including 300 Fortune 500 companies and 160 domestic and foreign chambers and associations. The guests attending the WCIFIT were amounted to 1,575, including 46 foreign political VIPs and high-ranking government officials, 20 leaders from provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and national ministries and commissions, 99 VIP guests from central state-owned enterprises, 37 VIP guests from overseas Fortune 500 companies, 93 VIP guests from well-known enterprises, registering a new record high in terms of quality and number of guests.

Signing 271  projects both home and abroad

The WCIFIT 2019 witnessed the signing of 271 domestic and foreign projects, with a contract value of RMB 549.78 billion, involving in various fields of intelligent manufacturing, biological pharmacy, new materials, new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, modern logistics, and ecological protection.

Among them, 132 projects were signed at the opening ceremony with a total contract value of RMB 337.53 billion; 50 projects were signed at the Central SOEs' Trip to Chongqing with a total contract value of RMB 186.4 billion; 89 projects were signed at the promotion and marketing events of sister provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).

Organizing 127 events and activities

During the WCIFIT, 127 investment trade and cultural exchange events were organized, including 21 key events such as Opening Ceremony & Major Projects Signing Ceremony, Opening-up Momentum in Western China Summit, Asia300 Global Business Forum Chongqing Summit, Free Trade Zones Matchmaking, Exchange Conference, and  2019 Central SOEs' Trip to Chongqing.

The Asia300 Global Business Forum Chongqing Summit sponsored by Nikkei has a considerable reputation in the economic field in Asia and even the world. The summit was organized under the theme of  A Fully Open Asian Economic Circle: New Business Opportunities Brought by Regional Cooperation. Heizo Takenaka, Japan's former Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, and over 300 global business representatives have shared a lot of new suggestions and new ideas for Asian countries and regions to seek cooperation and new business opportunities at the Belt and Road initiative.
