Chongqing- According to Banan District on May 21, the ASEAN Commodity Centralized Procurement Center (the Center) in this district will open officially in October. Local people can buy authentic ASEAN featured commodities such as characteristic rattan handicrafts from Vietnam, xylophones from Thailand, and gold leaf handicrafts from Myanmar (Burma).

Rattan handicrafts from Vietnam

Located at Chongqing ASEAN International Logistics Park (Area C) and covering an area of 2,300 square meters, the Center is the undertaking place of ASEAN commodities and is responsible for the logistics distribution. Meanwhile, it is expected to gather logistics, business flow, information flow and capital flow related to ASEAN commodities by bringing into full play the bond between Chongqing-ASEAN Regular Lorry and ASEAN countries and integrating the e-commerce new retail model.

In recent years, Banan District has become deeply involved in the construction of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) and has operated Chongqing-ASEAN Regular Lorry, relying on which it has formed the modes of cross-border road transport and road-rail and road-water intermodal transport, providing convenient access for ASEAN commodities to Chongqing.

“At present, we have opened 6 routes to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Singapore, covering the whole Indochina Peninsula.” said the person in charge of Banan District. Thanks to these cross-border logistics channels, various featured industries of ASEAN countries can enter Chongqing and even the surrounding markets by taking Chongqing as the center.

“We will strive to be the logistics center and also the distribution and trading center of ASEAN commodities,” the person in charge added. In order to further promote the development of related industries, Banan District starts to build the Center to provide a platform for ASEAN commodities.

“In the Center, citizens can experience and buy ASEAN commodities,” introduced the person in charge. After the operation of Chongqing-ASEAN Regular Lorry, it only takes about 45 hours to Chongqing from Hanoi (Vietnam), 98 hours from Bangkok (Thailand), about 79 hours from Yangon (Myanmar), and 148 hours from Phnom Penh (Cambodia). “The delivery only takes a few days, which is just convenient as domestic logistics and can facilitate the purchase of ASEAN commodities by the locals.”
