On the evening of June 2, An American in Paris, the original Broadway Musical, staged in Fuling Grand Theatre. It is created by the original production team of Broadway Asia International and was completed in Fuling Grand Theatre, a subordinate body of Chongqing Performance Co., Ltd. in this May.

That evening, the choreography aroused rounds of rousing applause among the audience. Without shifting the stage background, the ballet dancers moved the props while dancing, followed by the projection screen which switched among different stage sceneries. All the pictures presented the lively flowing design with the interweaving retro and modern touches, endowed by the watercolor sketches style and the application of large blocks of colors.

It was inspired by the orchestral piece of the same name by American composer George Gershwin. Besides, the 1951 film under this name won six Academy Awards in 1952. The Musical is a spin-off of this award-winning film and tells a romantic love story of a young couple in Paris after the Second World War. In 2015, it won the Tony Awards of the Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Orchestrations, and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.
This musical will be performed for three times in Chongqing Guotai Art Center on June 7 and 8 and go on tour performance in many cities including Nanjing. Later, it will get back and be staged in Paris, where the story happened, for two to three months.
