On June 18, the 2019 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for U.S. Adolescent Students hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission kicked off at the Bashu Secondary School. Principals, teachers, and students from forty primary and secondary schools including the Confucius Institute at Broward County Public Schools of the U.S. will spend a ten-day summer camp in Chongqing to learn Chinese language culture and experience the local customs.
To strengthen the cultural and educational exchanges between China and the US, the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission has signed agreements with the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center, the Houston Independent School District, the Broward County Public Schools, the Clark County School District, and the Davis School District this year to jointly establish Confucius Institutes. They will conduct exchanges and cooperation in such fields as teacher dispatch, teacher training, student exchange, curriculum construction, and teaching resource sharing.
So far, Chongqing’s universities, together with primary and secondary schools, have established 55 Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms in 15 foreign countries. Expressly, 14 Institutes have been set up in the countries along the Belt and Road routes, and more than 1,400 Chinese teachers and volunteers have been sent to over 30 foreign countries.
