Chongqing - The 6th Western China Tourism Industry Expo, or WTE 2019, successfully concluded in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on June 23, 2019, was full of fruitful results, including 140 cultural tourism projects worth 419 billion RMB (about 61 billion USD), according to the expo organizing committee.
The three-day expo from Friday involved more than 80 international tourism promotion agencies from 42 countries and regions, all districts and counties in Chongqing, and more than 160 tourism enterprises from the rest of China. Exhibitors included enterprises engaged with tourist attractions, travel agencies, travel e-commerce, cultural tourism products, tourism equipment, and scenic spots.
As an important platform for the city's cultural tourism image display and cultural tourism industry transactions, WTE2019 has achieved fruitful results in many aspects.
After the opening ceremony on the first day, the contract signing ceremony witnessed 140 projects inked, covering tourist attractions, tourism complexes, tourist resorts, cultural tourism, agricultural tourism. Moreover, the total amount of the agreed investment reached 419 billion yuan.
These projects will not only boost the cultural tourism development of the city but also inject new vitality into Chongqing's economic and social development.
WTE2019 strengthened the investment of international exhibitors, fully embodied the national Belt and Road Initiative, and enhanced economic and trade cooperation as well as cultural exchanges with countries along the Belt and Road.
At the exhibition, many embassies and consulates in China, tourism bureaus, public tourism institutions, and travel-related enterprises displayed and promoted local cultural tourism resources. A team of 60 international and domestic travel agents, as well as foreign and domestic media reporters, traveled in Chongqing.
“A tour in Chongqing, A Gain in vision” Cultural Tourism Industry Development Summit Forum gathered travel industry research experts, scholars, and cultural travel project investors to explore new modes, business forms, and ideas for the in-depth integration and development of the cultural tourism industry in the western region.
Projects Promotion of Culture and Tourism in Southwest China, guided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, brought together 12 projects roadshows from Chongqing, Guizhou, Tibet, Yunnan, and Sichuan. These projects involved various areas such as scenic area development, as well as cultural and creative parks, cultural and tourism complexes.
More than 100,000 citizens and various interactive activities
