On June 27, connecting Shanghai-Chengdu High-speed Railway and Weituo-Jingkou High-speed Railway, Wanjiagou Bridge had its swivel construction completed, making it the first road swivel bridge in the main urban regions of Chongqing.

The construction of swivel means a way of swiveling after the bridge structure takes shape at the position of the non-design axis through pouring or splicing. Wanjiagou Bridge is located at Caijiagang Sub-district, Beibei District. The swiveling beam is 109.84 meters long, with every single deck of 19.5 meters wide. The swiveling structure is 7,500 tons.

The first swivel bridge, Wanjiagou Bridge, in Chongqing completed its construction on June 27 and will open to traffic in 2020

The two railways are both included in the Four Longitudinal Lines and Four Lateral Lines high-speed train network and of lateral type. On average, there will be one train passing through every ten minutes at 200 km/h. To reduce the influences of the construction on the operating trains to the minimum level, Wanjiagou Bridge adopts a swivel construction, featuring little interference and a high safety factor.

It belongs to Xiema Tunnel East-West Trunk Road Project, part of the one lateral expressway line of Chongqing, conducted by China Metallurgical Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. This trunk road lies between Shapingba District and Beibei District, starting from Xiema Interchange of the Ring Expressway to the west and ending at Sanxikou Interchange of Chongqing-Wusheng Expressway to the east, stretching 6.7 kilometers. The whole project is scheduled to open to traffic in January 2020, and then the driving distance between Xiema to Caijia will be reduced to only eight minutes. It will relieve traffic pressure on Chongqing-Wusheng Expressway.
