Chongqing - In August 2018, at the first Smart China Expo, Tencent announced that the Southwest Regional Headquarters would be located in the Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park of Liangjiang New Area. One year after determining its southwestern regional headquarters in Chongqing, Tencent has gained fruitful results with its technology to promote the development of culture, industry, and innovation.

“The Tencent Southwest Headquarters Building will be put into use this August...less than one year from the project determination, implementation to operation,” said Cai Guangzhong, vice president of Tencent and general manage of Tenent Southwest China. The 2019 Smart China Expo will take place from August 26-29 at the International Exhibition Center.

In addition to meeting basic office requirements, the Southwest Headquarters is aimed to be a headquarters of innovation based on smart connectivity via products of big data intelligence, artificial intelligence, IoT operating system, face recognition and blockchain technologies. The Chongqing team is over 1,300 people and is expected to exceed 1,500 by the end of the year.

Tencent’s participation in the upcoming SCE

This year, Tencent will build a 1000-square-meter corporate booth, which will display two parts-technology and culture. The technology part will mainly include Tencent Cloud, WeChat Smart Life, Smart Travel, Smart Retail, Smart Government, Tencent AI, Tencent Security, etc. Moreover, it will involve Chongqing's local cultural heritage. Physical display, smart interactive games, and feature games. In addition, Tencent will also host a sub-forum on Wechat-smart city.

Giving full play of Chongqing’s cultural elements

The notion of technology plus culture is assisting Chongqing, a city with profound historical and cultural heritage. Tencent, which has two national social products, is closest to consumer end-users and has accumulated a vast amount of data capacity. Based on the latest digital cultural communication means, Tencent will kindle Chongqing's historical and cultural customs, and it will surely bring a fresher digital cultural experience for tourists to Chongqing.

Tencent provides governments, enterprises, and tourists with comprehensive travel big data services. For example, Tencent and Zhongxian County jointly planned the activity of 30-second tour in Zhongzhou. Tencent will also open up AI, big data and other capabilities to help the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum's innovative cultural expressions, promote the intelligent construction of the museum, and improve the public cultural service experience.

Assisting the intelligent upgrading of the auto industry

Industry internet has become a core driving force for Chongqing to transform and upgrade toward smart manufacturing.

As early as June 2017, Tencent Cloud signed a strategic agreement with Chang’an Automobile and jointly released the Chang’an Oushang A800, the first smart mobile terminal of Chinese automobile brands. In December of the same year, the two sides signed an agreement to deepen the strategic cooperation on Internet Plus.

In April 2018, Tencent Group signed a cooperation agreement with relevant parties to invest 1 billion yuan to build Chongqing Intelligent Supercomputing Center.

Mr. Cai said that Tencent would provide an integrated solution to Internet of Vehicle for the Chongqing auto industry, helping the industry to transform and upgrade.

Promoting Chongqing’s big data intelligence

"Tencent is a leading company in the digital economy and has a high strategic match with Chongqing's development." Cai Guangzhong revealed that with the joint efforts of both sides, Chongqing's cooperation with Tencent had made new progress. Based on the southwest headquarters and the western cloud computing center, Tencent endeavors to develop more projects. This will promote cooperation between the two sides and help Chongqing's big data intelligent innovation.

Furthermore, Tencent will continue to increase its investment in Chongqing and conduct more in-depth cooperation with the city on building the smart city, government, tourism, medical care, education, and transportation.
