SW China's Chongqing Publicizes Safe Travel Information in Downtown

Chongqing - Departments of Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality jointly publicized safe travel tips during the summer vacation in the downtown area of Yuzhong District on July 19, 2019.

The Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the General Office of Chongqing Municipal Commission for Guiding Ethic and Cultural Progress, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, and the Yuzhong District People’s Government co-hosted the event.

The hotline 12308 of China’s Foreign Ministry offering consular services opened in 2014. Its mobile application and WeChat account were available later, Wang Wen, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government addressed the event.

“The amount of people for cross-border business, working abroad, studying abroad and outbound tourism is on the rise,” Deng Guanghuai, deputy chief of Yuzhong District said. “In the first half of this year, various types of entry and exit documents were handled in Yuzhong District for more than 55,000 people.”

The activity involved kind reminders for outbound tourists during the summer vacation from July to August, a peak time for China’s outbound tourism. Citizens and tourists can get information on such as consular protection and visa application by exhibition boards, brochures, policy interpretation, video, and so on. In addition, Davide Castellani, Miklos Nemeth, Adrian Miras, Lim Kim Cheang, and Ou Qi respectively from consulates-general of Italy, Hungary, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Japan in Chongqing, addressed at the event to introduce relevant countries’ tourism resources and share some safety tips.
