A 5G network will cover all exhibition halls and experience zones during the 2019 Smart China Expo (SCE). Visitors can experience intelligent digital life and other application scenarios, such as 5G mobile phones and remote driving, provided by operators like China Mobile Chongqing, China Telecom Chongqing, and China Unicom Chongqing.

2019 SCE will put more efforts on branding, to expand its influence. People will see many appealing events this year including the Globalized Digital Economy 100 Forum, Mayors’ Roundtable for International Sister Cities of Chongqing & International Sister Cities Business Summit, i-VISTA Grand Challenge, and International Drone Racing Grand Prix, which were all well received during the first SCE,

The 2019 SCE is expected to invite operators, famous suppliers, and research institutes to organize the 5G for Future Summit. The summit looks to share opinions on industrial changes and social development and looks forward to the future of and to share the benefits brought by 5G technologies. 2019 SCE creates four real experience scenarios, which are Liangjiang New Area Lijia Smart Life Experience Park, Yuelai Smart Life Interactive Experience Zone, Yubei Xiantao Big Data Valley Smart Transportation and Automatic Drive Demonstration Zone, and Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone (Nan’an District) China Intelligence Valley (Chongqing) Science Park Smart Technology Experience Zone. Citizens can experience a futuristic slice of life there.

The over 50 smart life scenarios encompass autonomous supermarkets, smart medical care, face-scanning lockers, hydrogen vehicles, smart guides, autonomous vehicles, AR games, and smart sidewalks. They will comprehensively display the latest achievements in smart industry and future smart cities in terms of intelligent life, production, and facilities.

Feel the speed with 5G mobile phones

5G network will cover the entire Chongqing International Expo Center, including indoor exhibition halls and outdoor experience zones, during 2019 SCE. People can feel the speed and enjoy the ecosystem brought by technology.

With new 5G mobile phones, which require no need for changing SIM card, phone number, and package, visitors can experience the 5G network. For others who do not have such mobile phones, they can use the demo phones set in the display area.

5G remote driving

Remote driving is another hot topic of the previous SCE, which will bring a different pleasure of driving to visitors this year as 5G technologies develop.

The high bandwidth and low latency of 5G allow drivers to control a vehicle while being away from it. Visitors, sitting in the driving simulator at Chongqing International Expo Center, can control the cars located in Xiantao Big Data Valley.

Several high-definition video cameras installed in the vehicle, along with radar, sensors, OBU, and other equipment, can realize signal transmission and man-machine interaction over the 5G network.

12 kinds of equipment to safeguard communication

People might worry about whether the crowd will block communication during the SCE. To address such issue, on July 30, 2019, Chongqing Emergency Communication Support Joint Exercise was held at the northern outdoor exhibition zone of Chongqing International Expo Center. With multiple kinds of advanced equipment, communication needs during SCE are expected to be met.

Chongqing branches of China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Tower participated in this Joint Exercise. They are responsible for safeguarding communication in Chongqing during emergencies and events.
