On September 19, Present Chongqing · Miao Cultural Performance 2019 Cultural Exchange Delegation returned to Chongqing after fulfilling goals set for city promotion. They delivered bright songs and dances of Miao to American people.

Present Chongqing · Miao Cultural Performance in Detroit

On September 15, A Land of Natural Beauty, A City with Cultural Appeal Promotion of Chongqing & Cultural Tourism in Miao Townships was held in Detroit. Zhang Hongbin, leader of the delegation and Deputy Director-General of Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, introduced cultural and geographic features, development status and unique Miao culture of Chongqing. He also invited people, companies, and organizations to participate in the 2020 Western China Tourism Industry Expo and Smart China Expo. Other attendees of the Promotion included Zhao Jian, Chinese Consul General in Chicago, Cynthia Johnson, a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, Wang Lisha, Chairman of Alliance of North American Chinese, Michigan state senators Michael MacDonald, Marshall Bullock and Jim Runestad, and staff from Detroit government, communities and the commercial industry.

Chongqing delegation in Detroit

Mr. Zhang said Chongqing and Detroit shared longstanding friendship, although being far apart. The former, as the command center in the Far East Battlefield of the Global War against Fascism, enjoys a significant number of historical sites proving China-America cooperation during the Second World War. The city also established the Stilwell Museum and Flying Tigers Museum to commemorate the two countries’ friendship. Detroit-based Ford Motor Company worked with Changan Automobile headquartered in Chongqing to build the Changan Ford Automobile Production Base, which produced 400 thousand and sold over 380 thousand vehicles in 2018. Considering that Detroit is a world-famous Motor City and Chongqing one of the largest automobile manufacturing bases of China, Mr. Zhang added that friendship and industrial cooperation between the two cities would be everlasting and further develop with time.

Miao from Chiyou Jiuli City is a vital part of the multi-ethnic development of China. The world should recognize its unique ethnic culture. Thomas, a local people, watching the performance at the Heyzer Parker Entertainment Center, said: “The performance is amazing. I did not know there is such a wonderful nationality in China. Their clothes are gorgeous, the songs are beautiful, and the dances are attractive. I want to visit their hometown, which I believe is as beautiful as a fairyland, right away.”

Wang Shixia, the representative of Pengshui County, said in the City Promotion held in Minneapolis on September 17 that the autonomous county enjoyed the largest population of Miao in China, a long history and colorful ethnic cultures. With joint efforts of versatile Miao people, Pengshui County was awarded National Folk Culture and Art Township and Beautiful China · Top 10 Demonstration Counties of Eco-Tourism.

Pengshui County signed strategic cooperation agreements with Overseas Chinese Service Center of Minneapolis and Minnesota Huaxing Travel Agency.

Present Chongqing · Miao Cultural Performance 2019 visited Detroit, Saint Paul, and Minneapolis, allowing the world to understand Chongqing and Miao culture. Additionally, Pengshui County signed strategic cooperation agreements with Overseas Chinese Service Center of Minneapolis and Minnesota Huaxing Travel Agency.
