Chongqing- "I will learn from the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, which started intelligent construction developments in 2010, and I will share what I have learned from them with the leaders of Chongqing," said John Wang, Senior Vice President & President of the Greater China of Signify (former Philips Lighting) in an interview during the 14th Annual Meeting of the Chongqing Mayor's International Economic Council (CMIA) in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality September 27, 2019.

This year's CMIA meeting is themed Building an Inland International Logistics Hub: Global Experiences and Chongqing's Way and a total of 32 CEOs from Fortune Global 500 and world-renowned multinationals from overseas will gather in the Chongqing International Expo Center to share their ideas and help Chongqing to achieve that goal.

Chongqing is at the strategic node of the China Western Development and at the intersection of the Belt and Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. When asked what advantages of Chongqing and how to utilize them, Mr. Wang said, "From a geographical point of view, Chongqing is very conveniently located in terms of air, land, and sea. Chongqing is not only the center of this region but also a center of China," and added, "There is an old saying in China, that it takes time, place and people to achieve anything."

He thinks whether it is the annual meeting or the just concluded Smart China Expo, there is a clear top-level design plan and concept from the leadership of Chongqing.

Just like the senior vice president said, Chongqing is no stranger to Signify or Philips Lighting. Many of Chongqing's road lights, the convention center, and Chongqing's landmark buildings, already have active cooperation with Signify. "As for our strategy in China, we will look for good investment options, whether they are Research and Development Centers or M&A cooperation opportunities," he said and added, "I am very optimistic about the future of Chongqing."
